Carsick is a unique and lively post-punk rock/indie band, with their music focused on young adulthood and culture from Salisbury. The band consists of members who were originally college friends, including Jack Hardiman and Tom Armstrong, as well as brothers Joe and Jack Richardson. The band was founded at college whilst drinking with friends.
Carsick are influenced by Blink 182, along with a variety of influences from poetry and their sporadic life experiences on and off tours. In recent years, they have played festivals such as Reading Festival and have recently performed at UK festivals such as Truck Festival; their most recent festival being the Burn It Down Festival in Devon alongside acts like Boby Dylan. I was at their Reading festival performance in 2024, and the crowd had so much energy and I definitely felt a sense of community even from a smaller crowd at the time. Being from Salisbury myself, there were a lot of fans showing support from that area, which was great. My personal favourite song live had to be ‘Gig Tax’ because of the grungy distorted bass and high energy. That song poured adrenaline into the crowd, and it was a really fun experience.
In December, they played a headline gig at the Chapel nightclub in Salisbury and in April this year, they toured Europe with a successful string of shows.
On the 5th of August, the band is scheduled to release their highly anticipated EP on the 5th of September, Tough Luck”. In 2021, their Hit Song Is What It Is was released, which is undoubtedly a fan favourite. In 2023, the band released their successful EP ’Drunk Hymes’. Their catchy and upbeat latest release, 'Backseat’ released on the 3rd of July.
If you’re looking for a high-energy young punk band, then Carsick is undoubtably one to check out.
